"In the Highways and the Hedges, We'll Be Somewhere a Workin' for Our Lord"
The theme for the 2025 Synod Assembly, "In the Highways and the Hedges, We'll Be Somewhere a Workin' for Our Lord," calls us to embrace a 21st-century vision of Christian life—one that extends beyond the walls of our congregations and into the world where we live, work, and play. Inspired by Jesus' teaching in Matthew 25:40 —"Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me"— this theme reminds us that the main stage for living out our faith is not confined to our church buildings or programs but is instead found in our daily lives: our workplaces, schools, homes, and neighborhoods. It is in these ordinary spaces, "the highways and the hedges," that we are called to be faithful disciples, wholly devoted to Jesus and our neighbor in love.
